Date/Time: Instructor: Dylan Arredondo Location: Best Medicine Rep Theatre in Lakeforest Mall, 701 Russell Ave, Suite ____, Gaithersburg, MD 20877
Through this course, we will conduct a series of masterclasses that will build upon our existing understandings of the fundamentals of acting. Topics covered may include: voice for the actor, character building, script analysis, somatic wayfinding, Laban effort factors, improvisation, clowning, puppetry, Shakespeare as a case study for analyzing verse & text devices, an acting methodology “speed-dating” exercise through Adler, Meisner, Strasberg, & Grotowski techniques, and moving towards contemporary scene/monologue work. As artists, we will cultivate a daily practice of listening, of being awake and open to the world around us. The plays that we most remember are the ones that understand their own relationship to breath. If a play can teach you how it breathes and get you to breathe at that same rhythm, then chances are higher that the people who are sharing that space won’t be able to forget it — it will stay inside them. This workshop will focus on getting to the core of honest breath in our acting, through complicity and balance.
